Incursions and Workshops

Children experience unique and exciting workshops free of charge!

All are welcome. Even if a workshop falls on a day your child usually doesn’t attend the centre, we encourage you to come along and join the fun!

Topics include composting, recycling, worm farm information, music, pet care, dog safety and many more.

Sustainability

Here at Little Apple Tree, we are passionate about teaching children how to be sustainable and care for the earth’s resources. Here are some of the ways we do this:

● We have our own worm farm fed with our fruit scraps.

● We have our own native bees which help to pollinate local flowers.

● All our classrooms have recycling bins for the children to use.

● We love receiving your household rubbish

(e.g., empty yoghurt containers, cardboard tubes from cling wrap, old utensils you no longer need).

● We have a clothes “Freecycle” in reception

(simply put in your child’s old clothes and take out some pre-loved clothes for your child)

● We only use Bamboo biodegradable wipes.

● We use eco-friendly cleaning products as much as possible.

● Food scraps from children’s lunches are taken home by families who have chickens on a rotating basis. If you have chickens and would like these scraps, please let us know so you can be part of the roster.

● Our sandpit collects rainwater in our own recycled water tank so that the children can water the garden.

● Where possible our playground equipment is made from recycled materials.

● Our playground is as natural as possible, this means real grass, recycled pavers, bark and sand.

Your ideas are always welcome to support our evolving sustainability.
