Wellbeing Framework
We use the PERMAH wellbeing framework to inform our practice and integrate character strengths into our teaching and learning experiences.
The Little Apple Strengths Tree shows the many character strengths we teach, spot and celebrate.
Using our top character strengths improves wellbeing across all areas and focusing on character strengths in early learning nurtures the overall well-being of children by fostering positive self-identity, resilience, and emotional growth. When children are encouraged to recognize and use strengths like kindness, curiosity, creativity, and perseverance, they develop a strong sense of self-worth and competence. This approach builds a foundation for positive relationships, as children learn empathy, teamwork, and respect for others’ unique qualities.
Highlighting character strengths supports emotional regulation and problem-solving, helping children navigate challenges with confidence. By celebrating their abilities and efforts, children are motivated to grow and explore, fostering intrinsic motivation and a love for learning. A strengths-based focus also creates a positive, supportive environment where children feel valued and connected, essential for their social and emotional development. Ultimately, this approach empowers young children to thrive, equipping them with tools for life long happiness and success.
